Behind DropBucket are Marie S. Berggreen and Heiða G. Nolsøe, both MScs in Design and Innovation from Denmarks Technical University, where the idea behind DropBucket began.
The DropBucket project started as a university assignment in January 2012 and was subsequently submitted to various innovation competitions. DropBucket achieved 2nd place at the ‘VIA Innovation Prize’ in Aarhus in May 2013, but more importantly gained public recognition, and this environmentally focused trash handling solution evolved from concept to reality.
In March 2014 P/F Royndin joined the project as the main investor. This investment enabled DropBucket to run full-time from its office on Vesterbrogade and to focus on further improving its design, patent and strategies.
In 2015, only three years after its inception, DropBucket reached a most remarkable milestone. Joining the likes of Apple, Adidas and Audi, our invention was awarded the world’s most prestigious design award – the Red Dot Design Award: Best of the Best. Looking toward the future, our current vision is to continue expanding this innovative way of handling trash and seeing DropBucket being used all over Europe.
